The Tell-Tale Rain 12:03pm 6/5/99 Charles Dum People sit all day confined in their little boxes While wily little creatures do the same- they're foxes. When it rains it pours, people say it is too bad As it "ruins their day" or the play that they had. Rather take the fox, who delights in the rain And takes pleasure in it, rather than pain. As the rain falls, take the time to go and stand, Let the rain pour upon your outstretched hands. Smell the air around, don't sniff but inhale; It's got its own story to tell that won't come in the mail. Any story worth hearing cannot be written on paper- For in destroys meaning that I would rather savor. The sweet scent of the little green leaves On any plant at home or office or under your neighbor's eaves. A flower even, budding or in bloom, Raise thoughts, lift hearts, from an impending doom. Clear your mind and blank your thoughts To ready yourself for an experience which cannot be bought. Breathe in deeply, don't exhale the air, Let your thoughts be free, and clear. The intoxicating scent will stimulate your mind, So yourself be free and not by society confined.
